Ipswich Printweek 3rd Annual Printmaking Exhibition
The exhibition will take place at the prestigious Whistler Gallery located in the Jerwood Dance House (home of DanceEast) on the Waterfront in Ipswich, from 20-27 May 2023.
Oyster Community Press CIC will curate and promote the exhibition, produce a catalogue, and manage a Private View event for artists from 6pm on Friday 19 May.
To exhibit, you must be a printmaker that either lives or works within a 25-mile radius of Ipswich.
All entries must be:
Original prints (i.e., hand-pulled)
Framed in frames of reasonable quality
Fitted with D-rings
Entitled on the reverse and the price clearly indicated. This information must be duplicated on a label attached with string to the front of the work. Owing to the limited capacity of the venue, the maximum framed size will be 61cms x 46cms
(24” x 18”) . Artists may only submit 2 pieces of work for consideration
We are looking for original and interesting work. There will be a selection panel comprising our Creative Director and three local printmakers to finalise exhibition entries and their decision will be final.
There is an entry fee of £15 per submission, which is payable only if your work is selected.
A fee of £5 is payable per unframed print entered for sale in a browser and the work should be labelled, priced and suitably wrapped.
Entries must be submitted for selection in digital form (J-Peg) and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org for the attention of Al Smyth no later than Thursday 27th April,
accompanied by a completed entry form as an attachment. You will be notified by 3rd May if you work has been selected. Selected work should be brought to our studio at Tower House, 17 Tower Street, Ipswich, IP1 3BE on Saturday 13th May.
Commission and sales information
As the organisers of Ipswich PrintWeek do not charge commission on sales, stewards will notify you if someone wants to buy your work and pass the buyers details to you so that you can arrange payment with them. You will need to notify Oyster Community Press CIC when you have received payment, so the work can be released to the buyer. Buyers may collect their work from the gallery on Sunday 28th May after 2pm. Alternatively, you may collect the work and arrange for it to be delivered to the buyer yourself.
Any pieces that have not been sold can be collected from the Gallery on Sunday 28th May after 11am.
We request that exhibitors offer their time to steward the exhibition and help sell their work. Stewarding slots are from 10:00-1.30pm or I:30 - 5:00pm daily for the duration of the exhibition. A stewarding schedule will be available when you bring your work in.
